1. Contemporary Farm House

Farmhouse style has been a popular choice for kitchens for years, but we're starting to move away from the traditional farmhouse for a more contemporary feel with all the rustic flare.
2. Green Cabinetry

We will always love a good white kitchen. But I'll be honest, as painful as it is, the white kitchen has began to bore me and I crave a statement like this green cabinetry provides.
3. Open Cabinetry

Upper cabinetry seems to be a thing of the past this year. Open cabinetry is a great way to showcase some of you favourite dinnerware and décor. Its also a great choice for people who want a more minimalistic looking kitchen.

Rugs are starting to make their appearance in kitchens. They're a great way to add texture and visual interest to a space. If your concerned that the rug may be a tripping hazard, you can easily swap it out for flooring for the same effect as shown below.

5. Hands Free Fixtures

We live in an age where tech is constantly evolving to make our lives simpler. Touch less fixtures such as taps offer more than just convenience though, it can be a safe addition to your kitchen when it comes to cooking foods that are associated with possible bacteria risks, like chicken.
6. The Black Finish

Since the beginning of 2016, trend forecasters have been predicting black appliances to become hot in kitchens. Black appliances are and excellent way to add a little extra interest and drama to your design.
7. Dark Surfaces

As we discussed, the white kitchen is on its way down, not only in cabinetry, but in our surfaces as well. And even if your not ready to let go of your white cabinets, that's perfectly understandable, we'll except the addition of a warmer, dark counter as a start.
8. Open Island Storage

If your already swapping your cabinetry for open shelving, why not match your island? Maybe show of your dinner wear or those cook books you rarely use? Or if your a baker, you could store some over ingredients in cute jars, or if your buy in bulk you could create a pull out bin system.
